Dr. Marianne Morand, Periodontist
D.M.D., M.Sc., F.R.C.D(c)

Dr. Morand obtained her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Université de Montréal in 2005, and has continued her training in a General Practice Residency at University of British Colombia in Vancouver (2005-2006). During this program, she had completed an implant elective internship which led to publication of her first paper related to the use of short implants in the posterior maxilla.

After a brief period working as a general dentist on the North Shore of Montreal, she started her post-graduate training in Periodontics at Université Laval, which she completed in October 2010. In conjunction with the clinical training and the Admission Scholarship awarded by Hydro-Québec, she has conducted research on the link between periodontal disease and preterm birth. This project permitted her to obtain her Masters in Dental Sciences from the Faculty of Superior Studies of Université Laval. Dr. Morand is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Periodontics.

In addition, she has been involved in community and international aid and in dental services offered in remote areas. This led to receiving an award from the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, in 2005. Her contributions can be summarized as followed:

  • Dental care offered to the young homeless at CLSC Des Faubourg in downtown Montreal (2002-2005)
  • Dental humanitarian mission in Honduras with Dentists without Border (2005)
  • Dental care on Native reserves in Queen Charlotte Islands, British-Colombia (2005-2006)
  • Hospital internship in Ho Chi Mingh City, Vietnam (2006)
  • Temporary replacement contracts in Nunavik, Quebec (2006)

In 2006, her involvement with her patients and the quality of her care were honored by the University of British-Columbia. She was the recipient of the Sam Ioannidis Memorial Award :
